If you’re looking for the perfect healthy post-dinner treat, look no further. Peppermint tea is loaded with health benefits, and it’s also delicious! It has been used for centuries to aid digestion. Studies have shown that it helps relieve gas and bloating, and can reduce heartburn and indigestion as well.
Ending your meal peppermint tea really hits the sweet spot without adding any extra sugar to your meal.
It’s zero-calorie, naturally caffeine-free, and doesn’t contain any sugar. Many of my clients find this post-dinner habit really replaces cravings for sugary desserts.

How To Make Peppermint Tea
OPTION 1. STEEP FRESH PEPPERMINT LEAVES IN HOT WATER FOR 10 MINUTES
Using fresh mint leaves to make tea after dinner (or any time of day) is my absolute favorite way to make mint tea. Mint grows incredibly easily in pots, and it’s also beautiful.
To make fresh peppermint tea, grab your favorite mug, add 5-7 fresh mint leaves and pour hot (not boiling) into the mug. I boil water and let it sit for 5 minutes before pouring it over the leaves. Let it steep for around 5 minutes and sip away. I leave the mint leaves in my mug but you can discard them or compost them if you prefer.
OPTION 2. USE A HIGH-QUALITY PEPPERMINT TEA
Of course, you can also buy your peppermint tea and still get the same benefits. Dried tea is more concentrated than fresh mint leaves and will have a stronger flavor. Steep the bag for 3-4 minutes (read the package instructions), then discard the bag to prevent your tea from becoming bitter.
Look for an organic peppermint tea if possible and read the ingredients. Choose a peppermint tea that contains only peppermint; be sure it doesn’t contain any additives or caffeine. My favorite is Traditional Medicinals Organic Peppermint Tea, you can find it at most natural grocery stores.
Both options to make peppermint tea have wonderful benefits, so choose the way that works best for you. Drink your tea straight up—no sugar added—for the most benefits.
