Development of traditional occupations and craft villages; such as sedge cultivation and processing, embroidery and fine art stone processing, was a highpoint among provincial industry promotion operations. In the first 10 months of 2013, with the VND900-million assistance from the industry promotion program; the provincial industry and trade promotion center implemented eight projects to support sedge cultivation and processing in Kim Son, contributing to stable raw material supplies for nearly 5,000 enterprises producing sedge products for export in the province, which have provided jobs for more than 23,000 employees inside and outside craft villages and earned about VND200 billion in revenues per year.

Van Lam Embroidery and Ninh Van Fine Art Stone in Hoa Lu District, the two famous craft villages in the province, also received assistance from industry promotion programs to develop products attracting consumers in both domestic and foreign markets. Van Lam Embroidery persified its range of products to make it include landscape pictures; bed linens; curtains; tablecloths; and pillows, among others. Ninh Van Fine Art Stone is renowned for its worship statues, fine art statues, aquariums and incense burners.

Not only assisting craft villages in development, the provincial industry and trade promotion center also introduced new occupations into rural Ninh Binh; where the economy remained less developed and abundant workforce existed. The opening of vocational training courses in Yen Khanh; Kim Son and Yen Mo districts has helped skilled workers to find jobs and carve a niche on the market. These workers now can run their own businesses with what they learnt from the courses; contributing to developing traditional occupations in the province.

Besides, the center will strengthen guidance for and inspection and supervision and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles; so projects can be accomplished on schedule and allocated funding can be used for the right purposes and according to law, Diep said.
