The Gac fruit. An exotic Asian fruit powerfully rich in antioxidants and yet relatively unknown in the West. However, this wonderful fruit is becoming of increasing interest to health professionals. Why?
Most fresh fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants, which is why they play such an important role in keeping us healthy but the Gac fruit is special. Different. Its wide range and high concentration of antioxidants and carotenoids such as lycopene and beta-carotene help benefit many different parts of our bodies, all at once. Naturally.
Carotenoids. Beta-carotene. Lycopene. The Gac Fruit contains high concentrations of all of these, but what are they?
Carotenoids are plant pigments responsible for the bright red, yellow and orange hues in fruits and vegetables such as carrots and tomatoes. They act as antioxidants in the human body. Whilst carotenoids are undoubtedly important for our general wellbeing (they are the human body’s first line of defence against disease), our bodies are not able to manufacture carotenoids themselves; we have to make a conscious effort to include them in our diets.
Beta-carotene is a carotenoid. Like all carotenoids, it is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Our bodies convert beta-carotene into vitamin A, which is essential for healthy vision, a healthy immune system and reducing inflammation. Moreover, when beta-carotene is taken in its natural form (for example in fruits or vegetables) our bodies are clever enough to know to only convert as much beta-carotene into vitamin A as we need.
Lycopene is another carotenoid and another gift from Mother Nature. It is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that may help to protect cells from damage. Lycopene is produced by plants to protect them against damage from the environment such as toxins and ultraviolet light. As our bodies are not able to produce lycopene, we need to make sure we include lycopene-rich foods in our diet to help fight against disease and maintain our wellbeing.
What does all of this mean?
The Gac Fruit is nicknamed “Fruit from Heaven” for a reason. Its naturally high concentrations of carotenoids mean that by including Gac in our diet we are giving our bodies the best chance possible to stay healthy and well. Not only that, but the Gac fruit is so rich in antioxidants that it will help keep the ageing process at bay, allowing us to look younger for longer. Still interested? Learn a little bit more below about how the Gac fruit can help your skin, hair and nails, eyes and (if you’re a man) your prostate.
Skin – the naturally high concentrations of lycopene, beta-carotene and vitamin E in the Gac Fruit help promote smooth healthy skin and protect it from sun damage. Lycopene and beta-carotene have been found to help protect the breakdown of collagen in the skin and therefore help prevent the signs of ageing. They naturally help to reduce damage to the skin’s tissue by protecting it against oxidative stress and helping to maintain soft, smooth, disease-free skin. In our market testing over the last 18 months, our Gac takers have seen considerable improvements to skin conditions such as psoriasis.
Hair and Nails. The high levels of lycopene, beta carotene and vitamin E in the Gac fruit help to promote healthy, glossy hair and repair damage to the scalp and hair follicles. These antioxidants also encourage strong healthy nails and prevent damage caused from splitting. Many of our clients have reported significant improvement to the condition of their hair and nails since taking our Gac fruit capsules.
Eyes. Lycopene, beta carotene, vitamin E and vitamin C are all essential for healthy vision. They help prevent damage to the eyes by protecting the lens against damage caused by ultra-violet light. Many children in Vietnam with vitamin A deficiency, and consequently poor eyesight, take the Gac fruit to improve their vision.
Prostate Heath Lycopene is receiving a huge amount of attention in this field of research. Tomatoes, so far, have been top of the list but studies have found the Gac fruit to contain (like for like) up to seventy times more lycopene than tomatoes. This is all good news for maintaining men’s health.
